our story

It all began on the evening of Nov 29th 2003, at former Chat Noir French Restaurant in Costa Mesa, CA. Brad approached me [Jana] and we instantly connected; it was love at first sight. The next 4 years that followed were a whirlwind of romance, growing pains, and adventures. We circled the globe, traveling to South America, Europe, and Asia. Then one night, Brad surprised me with a romantic beachside proposal. We made it official on August 23rd 2008 with an intimate wedding at a hip art gallery in Laguna Beach. A year later we finished redesigning our home in the beach village of Corona del Mar.

On May 18th, 2010, we were blessed with a sweet little miracle of our own, our baby boy Taj Leon. He stole our hearts and took our breath away! Then, 19 months later, his incredible little brother, Jax Franz, arrived on Christmas morning (December 25th) 2011. What an amazing gift we received! In an effort to slow down the clock and enjoy our beautiful family, in Spring of 2012, we sold our CA seaside home and moved across the country to our dream lake house in Brad's hometown of Bemus Point, a resort village on Chautauqua Lake in Western New York! Even though we are living a more slow paced life, we are living a life far from ordinary!

From the West Coast to the East Coast, our Grover family adventures continue! So won't you come along and join us on this journey of love, family, and travel we like to call our La Vida Grover!

NYC in The Fall 2016 Family Trip

Just before Thanksgiving, it was an NYC Fall roadtrip for this family!
Rad NINJA themed dining experience we shared together!

Central Park in the November is so magical!

Night at the Museum movie was the boys' favorite at the time, so we naturally had to visit where it all took place- the actual Museum of Natural History... one of the largest museums!

We took the boys to see their first NYC Show- we settled for STOMP because it was more time and kid friendly and a budget hit!  As the boys get older, it will be more of a treat to take them to go see the big Broadway hit musicals, and they will better appreciate them!  We always have to leave something special to experience and look forward to!

Of course, one of the main reasons for our trip to NYC was yet again another consulate appointment, but this time to apply for the boys' CZECH citizenship so the whole family had to be present at the appointment for the paperwork to be initiated and processed.

Ellicotville Nature Day & Mama Voting for the 1st time (Nov 2016)

Fall 2016 was so lovely and warm that we spent many weekends outdoor trying to absorb as much of the Autumn color and fresh air.  Something new we did was explore the area around Ellicottville more before Winter hit. Since E-ville has been more of a winter escape for us, we did not get a chance to enjoy it in the other seasons. We managed to visit in the summer when we went swimming at the Holiday Valley resort outdoor pool, and so naturally, we thought it would be fun to explore the village's Arboretum while the leaves were at their peak... and what a beautiful sight it was!

Boys getting prepared for a much anticipated ski season!
November 2016 was mommy's very FIRST election she was able to participate and vote in, since becoming a US citizen recently.  It was a very emotional and powerful presidential campaign year leading up to the voting day.  I naturally brought the boys with me to the voting booth so they could learn the importance of it and the rights we are lucky to have in this country.  The election result was troubling I must admit, hit me harder emotionally than I anticipated because the candidate went against everything I am, what I hoped for my boys' future, and the important humanitarian, immigration, civil rights, and environmental issues I firmly believe in.  It was another teachable moment I guess you say when discussing it with the boys.  The biggest thing that came out of it was that it propelled us to take action, to educate ourselves, to empower and speak up for those that don't have a voice, and to make sure we mold our little boys into the most compassionate, fair, open-minded, and worldly helpers out in the society! There is an even greater need and push to positively influence and educate our youth, and not allow the media or politics to harden them.
