our story

It all began on the evening of Nov 29th 2003, at former Chat Noir French Restaurant in Costa Mesa, CA. Brad approached me [Jana] and we instantly connected; it was love at first sight. The next 4 years that followed were a whirlwind of romance, growing pains, and adventures. We circled the globe, traveling to South America, Europe, and Asia. Then one night, Brad surprised me with a romantic beachside proposal. We made it official on August 23rd 2008 with an intimate wedding at a hip art gallery in Laguna Beach. A year later we finished redesigning our home in the beach village of Corona del Mar.

On May 18th, 2010, we were blessed with a sweet little miracle of our own, our baby boy Taj Leon. He stole our hearts and took our breath away! Then, 19 months later, his incredible little brother, Jax Franz, arrived on Christmas morning (December 25th) 2011. What an amazing gift we received! In an effort to slow down the clock and enjoy our beautiful family, in Spring of 2012, we sold our CA seaside home and moved across the country to our dream lake house in Brad's hometown of Bemus Point, a resort village on Chautauqua Lake in Western New York! Even though we are living a more slow paced life, we are living a life far from ordinary!

From the West Coast to the East Coast, our Grover family adventures continue! So won't you come along and join us on this journey of love, family, and travel we like to call our La Vida Grover!

Uncork New York! Girls' Limo Wine Tour

Every mama deserves a day with the girls in a limo, wine-tasting!  Meet my NY friends!  Amanda (on the far left) invited me to a wine-tasting tour with fellow friends Kristina, Julia, Wendy, and new friend Jackie.  The girls picked me up Sunday morning and we headed out for a 7 hour wine tour on the Lake Erie Wine Trail.  I can't wait to do this with our family and friends when they come out to visit!

1st Winery:  Woodbury Vineyards
We got a souvenir wine glass!  Favorites were Cabernet Franc, Seaport White (good for refreshing summer Sangria mix), Niagara (pairs well with buffalo wings LOL!), and Blueberry fruit wine.

 Me & Kristina

2nd Winery: Willow Creek Winery
Check out the sign on the wall: "Wino Way"!  Ha!  They had good specialty red chocolate wines Chautauqua Chocolate and Sweet Temptation.  Only place that served the wine samples in plastic cups! Eeek.

3rd Winery:  Merritt Vineyards
Reminiscent of Paso Roble (Santa Barbara) wineries.  They had an excellent red called the Masterpiece.

Fun in the limo!

4th Winery:  Another favorite, 21 Brix Vineyards
Can't remember the wines for some reason..... hmmm maybe I was tipsy at this point, they all began tasting the same!!! The winery was very hip though, and very busy!

 with Amanda

Had to stop and take a "Wino" photo moment at Barcelona Beach:

5th Winery:  Johnson Estate Winery
Popular with the locals, they have a great mulled Red wine! I think its funny the camera appears to be feeling the same way as us.... a bit blury-eyed :)

Yep, this is where we decided we should stop off for some Chinese food to help soak up all the wine in our bellies!  We had tons of snacks, chocolate, fruit, water in the limo...... you name it, we snacked on it.  Most wineries gave out 6 tastings each, so do the Math and you can imagine what we felt like after 5 wineries!

Our final stop...
6th Winery: Noble Winery
Views of Lake Erie.  Very romantic, we saw 2 couples with a bottle of wine pick nicking on the grass and feeding each other cheese and grapes!

Obviously after the Chicken Chow Mein, I was ready for some dessert.  'Lo and Behold, their speciality.... PORT.   Accompanied with a piece of chocolate, mmmmm that hit the sweet spot.  I was sold, so I bought a bottle of course, to share with the father of my children and best hubby ever!
*Wink Wink*

The 7 hour Sunday wine tour ended at 5pm, when the wineries all closed.  And to think we attempted to go to 15..... well, 6 out of 15...... yes, we were ambitious!  Four even five would have been plenty :)  It was a fun day!  Looking forward to going back and doing this with Brad!

Backyard Fun - Fall 2012

Around here, we teach our little ones work ethic by raking leaves, ha ha!
Taj loves raking leaves.... and then running and jumping into leaf piles!
Lots of leaves from the numerous trees in our yard= HUGE leaf piles!
Huge leaf piles= LOTS of fun!

That is what is wonderful about our new life, whatever the weather or temperature outside may be on any particular day, we have a big toasty home to play in.  But then, when its sunny, guess what we do? We bundle up, open the door, and run outside to our backyard paradise!!!! As I have learned, every season brings new activities and new fun!  Oh the fun the boys have being outdoors! Lucky for us, the environment we live in allows us to be as free and silly as we want to be!  Its the most special thing to watch the excitement and the awe through a child's eyes, and even more special to feel like a child.  (Since all of the seasons and weather changes are new to me, I really do love it and enjoy it like a child!)

Evidence that we (meaning I..... the boys just rolled around in the leaf piles) raked the leaves today........ just in case the wind or animals destroy them! :)

Jax in Action!

Playtime at 9 months old:

Waving "hi!":

Relentlessly attempting the stairs, he got up 3 steps if you can believe it! (Brad took these shot when he was playing with the boys):

And he's learning all sorts of things from his big bro..... Taj builds it, and Jax tears it down!  LOL

Pumpkinville 2012

Welcome to Pumpkinville, NY!
A week ago, we took the boys to Pumpkinville with the Dawes.  Pumpkinville is a big pumpkin farm just outside of Elicottville, NY  (a 45 minute drive east.)  There were pumpkins, a farmer's market, pony rides, hay rides, tractor-wagon rides, farm animals, singing chickens (see photo on the bottom of the post), a talking pumpkin, haunted barns, pumpkin cannon, and a man dressed in a spooking tree trunk walking around!

Jax's first pumpkin patch!

Pumpkin Patch 2012 family photo

Taj eating a pumpkin donut in front of the talking pumpkin!

The 3 silly scarecrows!

Even Jax got in on the photo fun....... he became an American Indian!

This was the highlight for Taj, and us!  Taj riding in the "cow train"!  So cute!
Do you see his orange mitten up in the air waving at us?  He is in the 4th cow from the tractor!

It was a chilly day!  Hello 40 degree weather!!!
It definitely feels like Halloween is right around the corner!
The singing chickens, who also told lots of funny jokes!  You ask Taji what his favorite part was at Pumpkinville, he will say the singing chickens (and the talking pumpkin and cow train!)
"How Tall this Fall?" 2012

Good choice of pumpkins, kids!

On our way home, we stopped off at the annual Fall Fest happening at the little scenic ski town of Elicottville:
