our story

It all began on the evening of Nov 29th 2003, at former Chat Noir French Restaurant in Costa Mesa, CA. Brad approached me [Jana] and we instantly connected; it was love at first sight. The next 4 years that followed were a whirlwind of romance, growing pains, and adventures. We circled the globe, traveling to South America, Europe, and Asia. Then one night, Brad surprised me with a romantic beachside proposal. We made it official on August 23rd 2008 with an intimate wedding at a hip art gallery in Laguna Beach. A year later we finished redesigning our home in the beach village of Corona del Mar.

On May 18th, 2010, we were blessed with a sweet little miracle of our own, our baby boy Taj Leon. He stole our hearts and took our breath away! Then, 19 months later, his incredible little brother, Jax Franz, arrived on Christmas morning (December 25th) 2011. What an amazing gift we received! In an effort to slow down the clock and enjoy our beautiful family, in Spring of 2012, we sold our CA seaside home and moved across the country to our dream lake house in Brad's hometown of Bemus Point, a resort village on Chautauqua Lake in Western New York! Even though we are living a more slow paced life, we are living a life far from ordinary!

From the West Coast to the East Coast, our Grover family adventures continue! So won't you come along and join us on this journey of love, family, and travel we like to call our La Vida Grover!

Bemus Week 3

We have reached our 3rd week in Bemus.  In previous summers, this would be about the time we would head back home.  So crazy, we ARE home!  Is it possible that every week that passes we love it here even more?  Despite the sudden heat and humidity of this week (which thankfully lasted only 3 days), we are enjoying our time as a family and already into the swing of things.  I love going to my weekly Zumba classes at the Y, Taj and Jax love their walks on Lakeside Drive, swinging at the playground, going with me to Wegman's grocery store, and seeing the familiar faces of our friends.

Our 3rd week began with a nice, relaxing Father's Day.  Brad has really outdone himself this year as a loving father and husband.  The boys and I are so grateful to him for how hard he works for us, and for giving us such a beautiful family life and dream home.  This has been a big year for us as a family, and also for him, he turns 40 in a month!!  I'm so proud of my husband, and love him more every year and every chapter of our ever evolving marriage and life.  I love watching him with the boys, it makes my heart melt with joy.  I love just how much he cares and does anything and everything for us!  He is such a brilliant man!
Here is daddy with his boys:

We even got to see our new house last Thursday evening, when the current owners invited us over for some wine.  I hadn't been inside the house since last summer, and I didn't want to impose obviously because we just went through this ourselves with the Iris condo.  But I gotta tell you, seeing it again after a year, and now that its all so real, i got very teary-eyed.  The house was bigger, the ceilings were taller, the rooms and porch wider. It was all more beautiful then i remember and photos really don't do it justice.  I can't believe that we will be moving into this absolutely cool home in about 3 weeks... we are in our halfway mark and are becoming impatient.

On Saturday, we used one of our babysitter referrals, and our friend's friend's daughter Hope came over to meet the boys, and then after we put them to bed I went to go pick her up, and she baby-sat for us while we went out to a romantic dinner at the Italian Fisherman.  I have to admit I was a little nervous leaving the boys with a 14 year old, but she impressed me.  When Taj woke up randomly and cried out for me, Hope knew exactly what to do and was able to comfort him right away and he fell back asleep. I don't know if anyone could ever fill our CA babysitter Sam's shoes, but I was happy Hope did well for her first night and we were able to enjoy ourselves.  We finally celebrated our move and the beginning of our new life.  Our friends even came over for drinks after I drove Hope home, and we ended having an even more fun night.

Then this morning, we took our boys out for breakfast at yet another breakfast place (we have gone to 3 now, it seems like every weekend), and afterward stopped over to see Brad's friend's parents.  Taj had a blast playing with their dog Maggie.
Another week is behind us as I write this post, and actually as I'm writing this its worth to mention that this evening we are having the most insane lighting storm.  The thunder is the loudest that I have ever heard, and now we have a downpour of rain!  Hello NY weather, ha!  From absolutely gorgeous sunny days, to way hot humid days, to the awesome tropical rain storms, I am loving the weather sampler... never a dull day!
