our story

It all began on the evening of Nov 29th 2003, at former Chat Noir French Restaurant in Costa Mesa, CA. Brad approached me [Jana] and we instantly connected; it was love at first sight. The next 4 years that followed were a whirlwind of romance, growing pains, and adventures. We circled the globe, traveling to South America, Europe, and Asia. Then one night, Brad surprised me with a romantic beachside proposal. We made it official on August 23rd 2008 with an intimate wedding at a hip art gallery in Laguna Beach. A year later we finished redesigning our home in the beach village of Corona del Mar.

On May 18th, 2010, we were blessed with a sweet little miracle of our own, our baby boy Taj Leon. He stole our hearts and took our breath away! Then, 19 months later, his incredible little brother, Jax Franz, arrived on Christmas morning (December 25th) 2011. What an amazing gift we received! In an effort to slow down the clock and enjoy our beautiful family, in Spring of 2012, we sold our CA seaside home and moved across the country to our dream lake house in Brad's hometown of Bemus Point, a resort village on Chautauqua Lake in Western New York! Even though we are living a more slow paced life, we are living a life far from ordinary!

From the West Coast to the East Coast, our Grover family adventures continue! So won't you come along and join us on this journey of love, family, and travel we like to call our La Vida Grover!

Our FRIEND-ful Summer

Summer 2014 proved to be our busiest yet, entertaining and hosting many friends what seemed like every other week!  We had friends visit from California, Arizona, South Carolina, NYC, Minnesota, Ohio, and even Germany!  Bemus Point is THE place to be during the summer, and those friends who had never been here before raved about the good time they had.  It was our pleasure to have them stay with us, and I had just given the guest room another fresh makeover before summer started! Some friends had their own place to stay and just came over for dinner or we did things with them the limited they were here.  Taj and Jax loved having house guests, and were continuously and excitedly anticipating them.

Lesley's Visit:
My friend Lesley (who used to live in Lakewood when we first met, and we have since visited her in Charleston, South Carolina) came with her girls for the week.  Taji was in heaven seeing his favorite gal pal, Charley!  We had such a fun time taking the kids to the pool, raspberry picking, ice cream and park, bonfires (& first sleepover for Taji in his room!) and also getting to have a girls night out with Faith too!

Hagstrom's (Both NYC and MN families) Visit:
Both Chris and Matt Hagstrom went to school with Brad and come back every summer to visit.  They usually stay at their condo in Bemus.  When they come for a visit we usually make plans with them as much we can, and what makes it that much more special is that our kids are all practically the same age and have known each other since they were babies.  Taj, Bodee, and Ava were all born a day apart in May 2010!

At Shawbucks one of the nights, getting to see Matt perform his music live!

Matty's Visit:
Brad's friend Matty from CA came to visit for almost a week too.  Matty was there the night Brad and I met for the first time at Chat Noir.  We all went out to dinner as a group with the rest of our friends, and took him to Hotel Lenhart, the Fish for concerts, and even the Casino for late night dancing.  Brad and Matt had plenty of boy nights, golfing, boating, surfing on the lake, and a visit to Chautauqua Institution.

Brianna's Visit:
My friend Brianna, who was my first friend I met in Bemus, and has since moved to Arizona, was out here visiting friends and family a couple times.  Each time, we got the kids together for some pizza at the park, play time and dinner at our house, and blueberry picking!  It was so wonderful to spend time together, and the boys (and little Sofia) had a blast.

Marc D.'s Visit:
Marc, another good friend of Brad's from CA visited for a few days in August.  Lots of boy nights, group dinner, boating, bike ride, concert, drinks at Lenhart, and golf again!

Bridget's Overnighter:
Brad's childhood friend, Bridget, came up for the night with her 3 girls.  She lives in Ohio but ever since she was little she and her family would spend summers in Bemus.  Bridget and Brad reunited with some of their summer an high school friends the night she was here.

Mike's (AKA German) Visit:
And lastly, our third international visitor, Mike came for a visit from Germany.  Prior to Mike's visit, Brad had his vendors from Norway visit in 2012, and then my parents visited last summer from the Czech Republic.  Brad and the German had fun at the boathouse, at the concerts on the last Labor Day weekend of concerts, the Brewery, bike riding and boating.  His visit was quick but we also managed to take him out for breakfast at the Lenhart….

We are looking forward to attending Mike's wedding next year in Germany!  Hoping to do our first Euro trip with the boys, combining Czech and Germany (maybe even Sweden!)
