our story

It all began on the evening of Nov 29th 2003, at former Chat Noir French Restaurant in Costa Mesa, CA. Brad approached me [Jana] and we instantly connected; it was love at first sight. The next 4 years that followed were a whirlwind of romance, growing pains, and adventures. We circled the globe, traveling to South America, Europe, and Asia. Then one night, Brad surprised me with a romantic beachside proposal. We made it official on August 23rd 2008 with an intimate wedding at a hip art gallery in Laguna Beach. A year later we finished redesigning our home in the beach village of Corona del Mar.

On May 18th, 2010, we were blessed with a sweet little miracle of our own, our baby boy Taj Leon. He stole our hearts and took our breath away! Then, 19 months later, his incredible little brother, Jax Franz, arrived on Christmas morning (December 25th) 2011. What an amazing gift we received! In an effort to slow down the clock and enjoy our beautiful family, in Spring of 2012, we sold our CA seaside home and moved across the country to our dream lake house in Brad's hometown of Bemus Point, a resort village on Chautauqua Lake in Western New York! Even though we are living a more slow paced life, we are living a life far from ordinary!

From the West Coast to the East Coast, our Grover family adventures continue! So won't you come along and join us on this journey of love, family, and travel we like to call our La Vida Grover!

NYC New Years 2015

Ringing in the new year in New York City…. CHECK! I checked this experience off my bucket list and have Brad to thank for planning it all out!  We left the boys at home with our very responsible babysitter Kaitlynn and drove into the City for 2 nights over New Years.   We stayed at our friends Chris and Emily's apartment in Chelsea and had an amazing time reuniting and celebrating with not only them but our California friends Griffin & Jane, and Marc Davis!  Griffin and Jane live in Sweden now and they were out for the holidays visiting Griffin's family in Albany and met up with us in NYC. Marc Davis planned to meet up with all of us and ring in the new year too!
First thing we did when we rolled into the City, is Brad and I walked the High Line and got some margaritas and mexican food at Brad's favorite Mexican restaurant in the Meatpacking District.  What I love the most about our little getaways is that for a brief moment we fully focus on each other like the pre-marriage and pre-kids days and its the little things like walking hand-in-hand, toasting with our margaritas, or taking selfies such as the one above that really make our time together so special and exhilirating!
Chelsea Market- such a cool artsy place to visit!

First night- dinner with friends

The next day, on New Years Eve, I met Dina up for lunch.  She now lives and works in NYC.  It was great to see her and catch up since CA last Winter.

Then on NYE evening, we all met up for dinner prior to our hotel party.

It was pretty exciting walking through the streets of Times Square from the restaurant to the hotel party.  There were barricades everywhere and street closures due to the New Years festivities.  We felt pretty cool showing our tickets and being let through the barricades to get to the hotel that was directly off of Times Square.  We passed hundreds of people who had been there all day and evening long, and i was so thankful we got to dress up nice and had a party to go to instead of standing outside on the street all night long.  Our party started at 10pm and went all the way to 3am.  They had an open bar and appetizers all night long and an incredibly fun DJ spinning 80s, 90s, and current music!  We danced and partied our booties off, and just before midnight the party hosts ushered us out to the street to witness the countdown and the confetti!

our table

this was our group out on the street by Times Square…. partaking in the cheering and drinking, and seconds from the clock turning 2015!

It was an unforgettable experience that I will always treasure, and this photo describes the emotion and thrill of it all!  Every person on the street was so friendly and happy… strangers wishing you Happy New Year and giving out hugs! There were people cheering and singing, and the sound of the Frank Sinatra's "New York, New York" song playing in the background.  It was raining rainbow confetti, balloons, and ticker tape, and it was such a beautiful sight!  I love the energy of New York City!  Truly one if not THE greatest city in the world!  I was fortunate to capture that moment on video!!! Its a pretty loud video and Griffin is trying to kiss Brad the whole time!  LOL

More dancing after the street celebrating!  Ah, what a night!  We almost stayed up to watch the sun rise…. that's how much fun we had!  I LOVE NYC…. the City that never sleeps!
