The same day we stopped in at Ramsau-Bei-Hainfeld we continued the drive West toward Germany and the storybook Austrian Alps (referred to as Eastern Alps). We arrived in the ski mountain resort town of Leogang by evening… this is where our friends Mike & Julia were celebrating their wedding weekend. The drive through the mountain range to get to this town was surreal. It looked so much like Switzerland, very picturesque and perfect. It looked like a hollywood movie backdrop! When we arrived by dinner, we checked in to the swanky hip boutique hotel Mama Thresl that the wedding couple rented out for the whole weekend. We met up with our friends Jane and Griffin (who we originally lived by in Corona del Mar, CA). It was quite the reunion, since they had been living in Stockholm, Sweden for 2 years, and we got to meet their twins Saga and Lincoln for the very first time!

The next morning, Friday, we had a magnificent breakfast and headed out with our friends to spend the day out on the Alps. We were so fortunate to have amazing weather the whole time!
Friday night- A Bavarian dinner wedding rehearsal. Everyone dressed in Bavarian clothes. I bought the boys lederhosen costumes online and just packed it with us. Brad and I were lucky to be able to borrow authentic beautiful lederhosens and drndls from Mike & Julia's friends. Every German and Austrian owns at least 8-10 different ones that they wear throughout the year for special events, festivals, weddings, and other occasions.

On the day of Mike & Julia's wedding, we snuck off a few hours before the festivities to take a dip in the neighboring community pool!

Mike & Julia had a celebrity wedding. The weekend was impressive and a fairytale wedding! From the breathtaking location of the Alps and the boutique hotel itself, to the Friday night gorgeous Bavarian dinner and surprise fireworks, to the wedding itself and of course these Cirque Solei performers at the party. We ate delicious food and desserts, and danced the night away into the wee morning. The whole hotel was a party. What was extra special about the whole weekend was that there were other kids there that the boys got to know. Mike & Julia arranged a supervised play room and dinner for the kids the night of the wedding so the adults could party all night. The boys later were tucked in their beds in our family suite, just as the other children and babies were, and we had the whole place to ourselves so it was incredibly secure and safe. Both adults and children enjoyed themselves! So much fun!
