our story

It all began on the evening of Nov 29th 2003, at former Chat Noir French Restaurant in Costa Mesa, CA. Brad approached me [Jana] and we instantly connected; it was love at first sight. The next 4 years that followed were a whirlwind of romance, growing pains, and adventures. We circled the globe, traveling to South America, Europe, and Asia. Then one night, Brad surprised me with a romantic beachside proposal. We made it official on August 23rd 2008 with an intimate wedding at a hip art gallery in Laguna Beach. A year later we finished redesigning our home in the beach village of Corona del Mar.

On May 18th, 2010, we were blessed with a sweet little miracle of our own, our baby boy Taj Leon. He stole our hearts and took our breath away! Then, 19 months later, his incredible little brother, Jax Franz, arrived on Christmas morning (December 25th) 2011. What an amazing gift we received! In an effort to slow down the clock and enjoy our beautiful family, in Spring of 2012, we sold our CA seaside home and moved across the country to our dream lake house in Brad's hometown of Bemus Point, a resort village on Chautauqua Lake in Western New York! Even though we are living a more slow paced life, we are living a life far from ordinary!

From the West Coast to the East Coast, our Grover family adventures continue! So won't you come along and join us on this journey of love, family, and travel we like to call our La Vida Grover!

Mommy & Daddy's Sacramento-Monterey CA Trip

A long weekend (4 days) spent attending and celebrating mama's college friend Sabrina's wedding in Old Town Sacramento, CA.  It was a much anticipated wedding, as Sabrina was there the night mommy Jana and daddy Brad met at Chat Noir, and she was also in our wedding party.  Sabrina and Devin have been together longer than us so they were practically married already, but this was a big celebration of their love and we were so happy to be there to share it with them!

We Facetimed daily with the boys while we were on the other side of the country, as our friend Jen (Jax's former preschool teacher) stayed with them at our house the whole time we were gone.  Miss Jen kept them super busy with activities, and even a little trial run at VBS (vacation bible school) that she volunteered at.

The morning after the wedding, we rented a car and drove over to the coastal area of Monterey, visiting Carmel-by-the-Sea, 8-mile, Pacific Grove, and stayed at Carmel Valley for 2 nights.  It was nice wife and husband quality time, feasting on delicious food and exploring the areas.  I love how inspired we easily get, the ideas we think of, the plans we make together, and how much we romanticize our ideal life and future.  Couples that can dream together, make beautiful plans together!

Jax at bible school, LOL!  He had fun, and learned that "God made you!" from all the prayers and sermons.  Taji not so much, it was "too much Jesus" for him!  At his young age, he has already figured out the limitations and strict rules of religion, that he proclaimed he does not identify with.  When I was young, I had many friends and opportunities to explore religion through youth groups and religious experiences.  Through that I was able to carve my own path and belief system, because I remained open minded to learning about various religions and the practice of religions.  I'm making sure the boys have the same opportunity, and as I shared with Taji, I want them both to learn and experience what religion means to them, and what role it plays in their life.  Then according to what they are drawn to and learn, they can decide for themselves how religious they want to be and what they want to believe in.

This was the incredible surprise we came home to after arriving late from the airport!  Miss Jen sure knows the way to our hearts-- the boys' homemade art work and cute little footprint art!
