our story

It all began on the evening of Nov 29th 2003, at former Chat Noir French Restaurant in Costa Mesa, CA. Brad approached me [Jana] and we instantly connected; it was love at first sight. The next 4 years that followed were a whirlwind of romance, growing pains, and adventures. We circled the globe, traveling to South America, Europe, and Asia. Then one night, Brad surprised me with a romantic beachside proposal. We made it official on August 23rd 2008 with an intimate wedding at a hip art gallery in Laguna Beach. A year later we finished redesigning our home in the beach village of Corona del Mar.

On May 18th, 2010, we were blessed with a sweet little miracle of our own, our baby boy Taj Leon. He stole our hearts and took our breath away! Then, 19 months later, his incredible little brother, Jax Franz, arrived on Christmas morning (December 25th) 2011. What an amazing gift we received! In an effort to slow down the clock and enjoy our beautiful family, in Spring of 2012, we sold our CA seaside home and moved across the country to our dream lake house in Brad's hometown of Bemus Point, a resort village on Chautauqua Lake in Western New York! Even though we are living a more slow paced life, we are living a life far from ordinary!

From the West Coast to the East Coast, our Grover family adventures continue! So won't you come along and join us on this journey of love, family, and travel we like to call our La Vida Grover!

San Diegan Spring Break

It's Spring Break, woohoo! We decided to do a little family weekender to our favorite weekend getaway city of San Diego. We wanted to show Taj a REAL zoo with A LOT of exotic animals he has seen in books and on the Baby Einstein DVDs...... San Diego Zoo it was! Here is our "Diego Zoo" photo, don't you just love when you ask someone to take a photo and they chop off a part of sign?!!

In the 4 hours that we spent at this humongous zoo, we only covered about half of it, but saw all of our favorites and all the real big exotic animals. I think next time when Taj is little older and will be more interested, we will start on the other half we didn't get to see, which was mostly the insects, reptiles, the shows, and petting zoo. Taji had a great time, his and our favorites were..... The Flamingos.....the zebras... the giraffes, (including the baby giraffe!!) LOVED them!! The elephants... (who were busy eating at the time so we only saw their backs, this was as close as we could get taking a photo with the elephants :) The dancing and swaying polar bear! Taji even played peekaboo with the seals! By the time we covered half the zoo, Taj was ready to be on his feet and walk around! He likes to push his stroller! After a day at the zoo, we headed over to Mission Beach (Mission Bay) and checked in to the Hyatt Resort. Our room was absolutely fabulous, it was big and we had our own veranda overlooking the hotel's tropical pools and waterslides! Too bad it wasn't warm enough to go swimming, but we were still grateful we had the sun and pleasant temperatures after the hail and rain we experienced night before our trip! We loved the hotel grounds, so much to do and see. They even provide you with a smores package, where you can roast your own marshmellows over their fire pits and make smores! By the time we found this out after dinner, it was past Taji's bedtime! When we got back to the room and were getting ready for bed, Taji discovered a new hiding spot! The next morning, we had a beautiful all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet..... Here are my two boys taking a stroll around the marina.... A family Spring Break portrait: and another one, with Taji's truck! After checking out we decided to skip downtown SD and head to Mission Beach Park & Boardwalk for some family R & R. Taj took an hour cat nap, allowing Brad and I to relax together on the grass. Then when he woke up we had some family fun which I capture on film! After playing for most of the day, we made our way up to Belmont Park, which is like the Balboa Fun Zone times four! There were so many classic rides, rollercoaster, carnival games...... so much fun, not to mentioned the yummiest waffle cone ice cream! You could definitely smell Spring Break in the air!! We had a terrific family time away, especially since Brad will be celebrating his best friend's 40th with the boys in florida this next following weekend :) We lucked out with the weather and the comforts of the hotel, but one of the things we realized is there's no place like home! Taj was super thrilled to be back home in familiar territory. Now that he is a toddler, he prefers to stand and practice his walking, its a little more difficult taking him places or traveling! He frequently fought sitting in the stroller, and every meal time at a restaurant was a battle zone! for the first time in a long time, the anxiety I felt over him crying due to colic when he was a newborn, came back to haunt me this weekend. Taj has become a very picky eater, likes to throw food on the ground, and will scream so loud we felt like one of those parents if you know what I mean. Ah, i think this is the welcoming into toddlerhood! So looking forward to the terrible two's and three's.... NOT!! As Brad and I say, he can be a stinker but atleast he's so darn cute!
