our story

It all began on the evening of Nov 29th 2003, at former Chat Noir French Restaurant in Costa Mesa, CA. Brad approached me [Jana] and we instantly connected; it was love at first sight. The next 4 years that followed were a whirlwind of romance, growing pains, and adventures. We circled the globe, traveling to South America, Europe, and Asia. Then one night, Brad surprised me with a romantic beachside proposal. We made it official on August 23rd 2008 with an intimate wedding at a hip art gallery in Laguna Beach. A year later we finished redesigning our home in the beach village of Corona del Mar.

On May 18th, 2010, we were blessed with a sweet little miracle of our own, our baby boy Taj Leon. He stole our hearts and took our breath away! Then, 19 months later, his incredible little brother, Jax Franz, arrived on Christmas morning (December 25th) 2011. What an amazing gift we received! In an effort to slow down the clock and enjoy our beautiful family, in Spring of 2012, we sold our CA seaside home and moved across the country to our dream lake house in Brad's hometown of Bemus Point, a resort village on Chautauqua Lake in Western New York! Even though we are living a more slow paced life, we are living a life far from ordinary!

From the West Coast to the East Coast, our Grover family adventures continue! So won't you come along and join us on this journey of love, family, and travel we like to call our La Vida Grover!

Girls In The City!

What do you get, when you have 4 housewives spend the weekend in THE City of all cities (New York City) and celebrate one of their big-40 birthdays?.....  Our rendition of the show Sex In the City meets the movie Bridesmaids! Oh YES!  We had a very fun, crazy weekend!  We even had our super hilarious token lesbian (Wendy's sister) to crack jokes.  Wendy was turning 40, and invited Amanda and myself to join her and her sister for a girls-only 2 night getaway!  This was the longest I had ever been away from my 3 boys, and first time leaving Jax overnight (for 2 straight nights!) Daddy Brad was such a pro, he took care of the boys for close to 3 days without any help!  It was somewhat of a breastfeeding experiment weekend....as I did the pump/dump while I was away (i didn't want my milk to dry up) and Brad kept Jax well nourished at home without any breast milk or formula.  When I got back, Jax and Taj not only looked like they had gained weight but Jax continued nursing right where I left off.  Its worth mentioning again just how well adaptable this little boy is! :)

So back to my Girls in the City story...... it all started with our VIP first class 45 minute flight from Buffalo to NYC.  Amanda, who is a former Conair & Delta flight attendant, hooked us up with first class seats during which the airplane's flight attendant specifically instructed us: "now I expect all of you girls to drink as much as you can....."  and she was serious!  By the time the plane landed, we were buzzin' from 6 Bloody Mary's and 1 glass of wine (mine) between the four of us!  At La Guardia Airport, we had our very own chauffeur holding up our sign.  Pre-reserved car service is the best airport transfer!  We spent our first night in a 2 bedroom condo booked through Airbnb, and although we were  disappointed with the cleanliness of the place, it wasn't until we came back around midnight to soak our feet when we discovered the place had NO hot water!  Sheesh, you should have seen how quick we were in packing up our stuff early morning, canceling and getting refunded from the condo host, and switching to a fabulous hotel just down the block for the remainder of our stay! We girls are laid back and go with the flow, but if you don't have hot water, you don't have our business! lol  Besides this minor accommodations switcheroo, we had an awesome weekend jam-packed with sightseeing, museums, cafes, bars.... you name it!

Times Square:

When visiting Time Square's GIANT Toys R'Us (it had a real ferris wheel, adult sized Barbie Dollhouse, and giant moving T-Rex inside the store!), I spotted Thomas the train!  Took a pic and sent it to Taji, who was all smiles :)

                                                                       Subway fun

Rockefeller Center Ice skating rink:

Got the Statue of Liberty in the palm of my hand!

One of the new World Trade Center buildings..... another 2 are being built.

The beautiful 9/11 Memorial site...... it was quite beautiful all lit up at night, and very somber.

Buddakan Birthday Dinner..... this restaurant was made famous by Sex in the City, they filmed several dinner scenes here and the 2 story restaurant is incredible.  We had an amazing 4 hour dining and drinking experience!  Even had my first martini (make that several martinis) in 3 years!!!

Birthday Girl Wendy, 40 and fabulous!

I must say, New York City is my all time favorite city in the US.... even in the world!  There's just something really special and unique about it, it's the feeling you get when you are there.  Its been about 8 years last time I was there (visiting my friend Sabrina), and I still get that rush.  The buildings look almost like a hollywood back drop, the architecture and the amount of insane buildings next to and on top of each is a force to be reckoned with!!!  I love the vibe of NYC, and there's sooo much to do.  Its got something for everybody!  Can't wait to bring the boys here, especially to Central Park for the horse and carriage ride, take them up to the top of the Empire State Building, take the ferry out to see the Statue of Liberty, wow them with the lights of Times Square, and show them the impressive toy stores!  I also can't wait to come back with Brad over the holidays to watch the ball drop on New Years Eve, go ice skating at Rockefeller Center, and enjoy the hot hot restaurant scene!
