our story

It all began on the evening of Nov 29th 2003, at former Chat Noir French Restaurant in Costa Mesa, CA. Brad approached me [Jana] and we instantly connected; it was love at first sight. The next 4 years that followed were a whirlwind of romance, growing pains, and adventures. We circled the globe, traveling to South America, Europe, and Asia. Then one night, Brad surprised me with a romantic beachside proposal. We made it official on August 23rd 2008 with an intimate wedding at a hip art gallery in Laguna Beach. A year later we finished redesigning our home in the beach village of Corona del Mar.

On May 18th, 2010, we were blessed with a sweet little miracle of our own, our baby boy Taj Leon. He stole our hearts and took our breath away! Then, 19 months later, his incredible little brother, Jax Franz, arrived on Christmas morning (December 25th) 2011. What an amazing gift we received! In an effort to slow down the clock and enjoy our beautiful family, in Spring of 2012, we sold our CA seaside home and moved across the country to our dream lake house in Brad's hometown of Bemus Point, a resort village on Chautauqua Lake in Western New York! Even though we are living a more slow paced life, we are living a life far from ordinary!

From the West Coast to the East Coast, our Grover family adventures continue! So won't you come along and join us on this journey of love, family, and travel we like to call our La Vida Grover!

Hasta La Vista, Summer!!

Photos from our last couple of weeks of summer :
The Michael Isreal live art show on the floating stage.... who knew we are such art collectors and actually bid on one of his paintings, and its now on our bedroom wall!

we enjoyed the last few concerts and dinners at the Italian Fisherman,
our favorite place to hang out and dine in the summer

more rock throwing and duck chasing...

Hanging with buddies Ava (from NYC) and Bodee (and Bodee's new baby sister June)
who were visiting from Minnesota!
Blueberry picking with friends

There they go.... the two little lovebirds Taj and Charley

We picked A LOT of blueberries!  Perfect for freezing!

Lastly, and sadly, we spent as much time as we could with Charley and her family, before they moved to Charleston, South Carolina beginning of September :(  Taj and Charley became best friends this past year, they were like two peas in a pod, and played so nice.  On their last couple of days in NY, the BFFs went on a movie date together to see the movie "Planes" and then we had a goodbye dinner for them.  Taj obviously still doesn't understand that Charley no longer lives here, he asks about her all the time and thinks he's going to see her at school or at the playground.  We definitely plan to stay in touch with them and visit them at their home this Winter/Spring!

The boys presented Charley and Maggie with Chautauqua Lake hoodies :)
Such sweet friends.... it was bittersweet.
Especially since Charley's mommy, Lesley, was one of my first friends out here and to see their stuff on a moving truck and go through the process we went through 1 1/2 years go.... it felt surreal.  It brought back a lot of emotion from our move, and how those friends and family must have felt when we were taking off.  Its not a nice feeling to be left behind, and way more exciting to be the one moving and starting a new phase of life.  With Lesley's move to South Carolina, and Brianna's move to Arizona (another friend..... actually my FIRST I met at the library storytime last summer.... I have mentioned her before in previous posts) it makes our living here much more of a reality.  We are so thankful for all of our new friendships over the past year and now having friends in many more states to visit, our world surely feels smaller!
