our story

It all began on the evening of Nov 29th 2003, at former Chat Noir French Restaurant in Costa Mesa, CA. Brad approached me [Jana] and we instantly connected; it was love at first sight. The next 4 years that followed were a whirlwind of romance, growing pains, and adventures. We circled the globe, traveling to South America, Europe, and Asia. Then one night, Brad surprised me with a romantic beachside proposal. We made it official on August 23rd 2008 with an intimate wedding at a hip art gallery in Laguna Beach. A year later we finished redesigning our home in the beach village of Corona del Mar.

On May 18th, 2010, we were blessed with a sweet little miracle of our own, our baby boy Taj Leon. He stole our hearts and took our breath away! Then, 19 months later, his incredible little brother, Jax Franz, arrived on Christmas morning (December 25th) 2011. What an amazing gift we received! In an effort to slow down the clock and enjoy our beautiful family, in Spring of 2012, we sold our CA seaside home and moved across the country to our dream lake house in Brad's hometown of Bemus Point, a resort village on Chautauqua Lake in Western New York! Even though we are living a more slow paced life, we are living a life far from ordinary!

From the West Coast to the East Coast, our Grover family adventures continue! So won't you come along and join us on this journey of love, family, and travel we like to call our La Vida Grover!

An Entire Decade!

Brad and I celebrated 10 years of us first meeting at Chat Noir french restaurant (back out in Costa Mesa, CA, which sadly does not exist anymore!).  Cannot believe we have been together a whole decade!  5 years married, with 2 little boys, living in New York….. who would have thought?  And it was all because of that one night November 28th, 2003, when this handsome young fellow dressed in a suit and tie, approached a 7-years-her-senior gal, at the bar.  His infamous pick-up line was "Bonjour", and when I asked if he was French, he peaked my interestand made my heart race at his response, "No, I'm smashed!."  Ahhh, doesn't that just completely represent Brad, and our years of courtship?  I think so!
For our 10th anniversary, we drove up to Buffalo for dinner at Anthony Bourdain's favorite seafood restaurant and then to a Matisyahu concert!  Matisyahu songs are close to our hearts during the last 5+ years, his songs are all about love, devotion, and hope.  His concert was amazing.  It was a very intimate venue.  The boys did great staying home with our sitter, especially since we didn't get home until after midnight!  It was first time away that far (1.5 hours north) and that long of a period (8 hours) away from the boys.  Our babysitter did a fantastic job caring for our boys, feeding them dinner, and putting them to bed!
I hope the next decade of our love is all about dating and courting each other, like we did prior to having kids, despite having kids and many more stressful obligations.   Its so important to keep that fire ignited and to have dates and adventures such as this one!
