our story

It all began on the evening of Nov 29th 2003, at former Chat Noir French Restaurant in Costa Mesa, CA. Brad approached me [Jana] and we instantly connected; it was love at first sight. The next 4 years that followed were a whirlwind of romance, growing pains, and adventures. We circled the globe, traveling to South America, Europe, and Asia. Then one night, Brad surprised me with a romantic beachside proposal. We made it official on August 23rd 2008 with an intimate wedding at a hip art gallery in Laguna Beach. A year later we finished redesigning our home in the beach village of Corona del Mar.

On May 18th, 2010, we were blessed with a sweet little miracle of our own, our baby boy Taj Leon. He stole our hearts and took our breath away! Then, 19 months later, his incredible little brother, Jax Franz, arrived on Christmas morning (December 25th) 2011. What an amazing gift we received! In an effort to slow down the clock and enjoy our beautiful family, in Spring of 2012, we sold our CA seaside home and moved across the country to our dream lake house in Brad's hometown of Bemus Point, a resort village on Chautauqua Lake in Western New York! Even though we are living a more slow paced life, we are living a life far from ordinary!

From the West Coast to the East Coast, our Grover family adventures continue! So won't you come along and join us on this journey of love, family, and travel we like to call our La Vida Grover!

Children's School Week at Chautauqua, Taj's Dance Class, and Farm Camp

This year, both boys attended Children's School at Chautauqua.  They loved it! Although they were in different classrooms divided by age, they did a lot of neat things.  They made art, they cooked, they visited the post office and mailed out postcards, listened and learned about the orchestra, went to story time at the their library (pictured above in the photo), and on the last day they took the little school bus and drove it a few blocks down to the Children's Beach.   I spent a couple days on site with my free pass, grabbing breakfast at the coffee shop, attended a couple lectures, and met friends at the spa where we got pedicures.  On one of the days, after their school ended, the boys and I even had a picnic lunch and spent the afternoon splashing around at the beach.  It was like being away for a week, though we were just across the lake from our house.  Chautauqua is a beautiful place, and where we go to learn and get cultured during the summers!

Taj is a real dancing machine and begged me to sign him up for some hip hop dance classes…. so I did but they weren't that inspiring.  It was only him and one other student :-( He did participate but they didn't learn any new dances.  Maybe if when he is older if he is still interested in street dance/ hip hop, there will be more opportunities, especially for boys older age.

The boys also attended a one time 3 hour farm camp in Lakewood, with their buddies.  On the farm, they learned to walk, feed, and take care of different farm animals.  They even rode and painted the horses!

One of the other weeks in July, Taj and his buddy Matthew spent a week at the Audobon Nature Center, half days playing in the forest, building forts, lots of outdoorsy stuff.  I didn't get any photos of that, but the boys really enjoyed themselves…. they even played in the mud and got dirty! Like all kids should do when they are young!  Next year, the summer before 1st grade, he will be eligible to attend the full day camp which is way more fun and structured.
