our story

It all began on the evening of Nov 29th 2003, at former Chat Noir French Restaurant in Costa Mesa, CA. Brad approached me [Jana] and we instantly connected; it was love at first sight. The next 4 years that followed were a whirlwind of romance, growing pains, and adventures. We circled the globe, traveling to South America, Europe, and Asia. Then one night, Brad surprised me with a romantic beachside proposal. We made it official on August 23rd 2008 with an intimate wedding at a hip art gallery in Laguna Beach. A year later we finished redesigning our home in the beach village of Corona del Mar.

On May 18th, 2010, we were blessed with a sweet little miracle of our own, our baby boy Taj Leon. He stole our hearts and took our breath away! Then, 19 months later, his incredible little brother, Jax Franz, arrived on Christmas morning (December 25th) 2011. What an amazing gift we received! In an effort to slow down the clock and enjoy our beautiful family, in Spring of 2012, we sold our CA seaside home and moved across the country to our dream lake house in Brad's hometown of Bemus Point, a resort village on Chautauqua Lake in Western New York! Even though we are living a more slow paced life, we are living a life far from ordinary!

From the West Coast to the East Coast, our Grover family adventures continue! So won't you come along and join us on this journey of love, family, and travel we like to call our La Vida Grover!

Taj-isms

Oh, the many wonderful things that come out of our little man's mouth!  He is so hilarious sometimes, and he's got such a clever sense of humor!

-We are sitting in the car, and daddy is about to go into the restaurant to order food.  I ask Taji "What do you want?"
Taj: "I want beer!"
(guess he's been hanging out with the guys too much!)

and that's not all, one morning when Brad asked him what he wanted to eat for breakfast, Taj replied "Ummm, I want pizza and beer!"

-Several times a day, he will spontaneously ask us "What time is it?"
Of course we always tell him (sometimes we say, it's "time for nap time" or "it's time to eat")

-In the car, driving from the store....
Taj: "May I have more cookies please?"  (this kid now uses "May I" like ALL the time when he really wants something, no reminders necessary.
I hand him cookies, and say "Yes, you may Taji!  You are so smart!"
Taj:  "I'm a smart cookie!" and he giggles

-At home, Taj picks up the cordless phone, puts it to his ear, and walks around pretending like he's talking on the phone.  Daddy asks him "Who are you talking to?"
Taj: "My girlfriend!"
Daddy:  "Who's your girlfriend?"
Taj:  "Harper and Eliza!"
(So this is what I have to look forward to...... I hope he won't be a player with the ladies!)

-At home, when he and Jax are getting ready to bathe and I'm undressing them, Taj will randomly point out:
"Taji has a wee wee, Jax has a wee wee, daddy has a wee wee, but Puppy don't have a wee wee, and mommy don't have a wee wee..... Mommy has a vagiama!"
(yes, I do teach him the correct terminology of the body parts, except we say "wee wee" a lot more because of potty training and Jax)

The only thing that's bad about him knowing the proper terminology is when we are in public.  For instance, I'm in the public restroom with the boys (Jax in the Baby Bjorn and Taj are both in the bathroom stall with me).  He watches as I pull down my shorts, and he yells "I see Mommy's vagiama!"  as loud as he possibly can!  Yes, there were people in the restroom, but it gets even better..... he asks me "Mommy you going poo poo?"  I say: "No, just pee pee Taji"
And now the whole world knows my business!

-We are on a bike ride.  Taj is riding with daddy, and Jax and I are on the bike in front of them.  As we pass by a house with cars in the driveway, I overhear Taj saying:
Taj: "Look!  There's cars!  Let's count!
One, Two, Three.... There's 3 cars!"
And yes, there were 3 cars!  Do we have a genius on our hands or what?! LOL

-This last one is pretty insane, and not a very proud moment for this mommy but what are you gonna do.... Maybe I'm wrong (I hope I'm wrong) but I swear I have heard Taji randomly say
"F**kin' soap!" when he couldn't grab the soap in the tub!
(guess we better watch what we say anywhere within an earshot of him!)

Yep, we have a comedian, a little ladies man, a genius, and a smart-ass all rolled into one! Gosh, we sometimes forget he's only 2!
