our story

It all began on the evening of Nov 29th 2003, at former Chat Noir French Restaurant in Costa Mesa, CA. Brad approached me [Jana] and we instantly connected; it was love at first sight. The next 4 years that followed were a whirlwind of romance, growing pains, and adventures. We circled the globe, traveling to South America, Europe, and Asia. Then one night, Brad surprised me with a romantic beachside proposal. We made it official on August 23rd 2008 with an intimate wedding at a hip art gallery in Laguna Beach. A year later we finished redesigning our home in the beach village of Corona del Mar.

On May 18th, 2010, we were blessed with a sweet little miracle of our own, our baby boy Taj Leon. He stole our hearts and took our breath away! Then, 19 months later, his incredible little brother, Jax Franz, arrived on Christmas morning (December 25th) 2011. What an amazing gift we received! In an effort to slow down the clock and enjoy our beautiful family, in Spring of 2012, we sold our CA seaside home and moved across the country to our dream lake house in Brad's hometown of Bemus Point, a resort village on Chautauqua Lake in Western New York! Even though we are living a more slow paced life, we are living a life far from ordinary!

From the West Coast to the East Coast, our Grover family adventures continue! So won't you come along and join us on this journey of love, family, and travel we like to call our La Vida Grover!

Jax 6 Week Close-Ups!

Jax is ready for his close-up!! He is starting to love the camera just as much as Taj! Jax is growing and changing so much every week, and smiling every day! He coos and "ah goos" at us, and at the toys/mirrors hanging off of his playmat. He lifts his head up 90 degrees and turns it side to side without a problem. He will also roll from his stomach to his back when one arm is underneath him. Last week, at his 6 week pediatrician visit, he weighed 10 lbs 4 oz (48th %) and 23 inches long (83rd %). I'm thinking from what I have heard and read that since he is the second boy, he may actually be a bigger baby than Taji was. So Taji better watch out how much he teases and beats up on Jaxi later on because one day Jax will be taller than him and repay the favor! LOL
Looking at "Jaxi-pants" (another nickname he acquired), his profile continues to resemble Taji as a baby and even now. They definitely have the same profile, but maybe different eyes and nose? Jax is much lighter though in hair, skin tone, and even eye color. Some other updates to share are that Jax is latching on to both breasts now, and breastfeeding most of the day. Way to go little guy, I knew you could figure it out!! I still pump a couple of times a day so we have bottles to take out with us and for the babysitter. Jax is also extending his night sleep!!! He is on the same bath and bedtime routine schedule as his big bro! He typically gets a bath (in his wash pod) when we bathe Taj, then I nurse him and swaddle him while Brad puts Taj to bed. Jax falls asleep at the boob when he is done nursing and then I put him in the pack n' play in our bedroom. He sleeps a consecutive 5 hours the first part of the night, usually waking around 1 or 2am for a bottle, then goes back to sleep for another 3 hours before his next feeding (I pump before I go to bed and give him this milk in a bottle when he wakes at 2am, and then nurse him when he wakes up for the 2nd early morning feeding at 5am). SO GOOD for a 6 week old I must say! We are doing the same bedtime routine every night like we did with Taji and its going really well. Hopefully by next month he will sleep even longer.

"Aww mom.....are you almost done taking my picture?"
smiling at mommy....
smiling at his big brother who loves to tickle him...
