our story

It all began on the evening of Nov 29th 2003, at former Chat Noir French Restaurant in Costa Mesa, CA. Brad approached me [Jana] and we instantly connected; it was love at first sight. The next 4 years that followed were a whirlwind of romance, growing pains, and adventures. We circled the globe, traveling to South America, Europe, and Asia. Then one night, Brad surprised me with a romantic beachside proposal. We made it official on August 23rd 2008 with an intimate wedding at a hip art gallery in Laguna Beach. A year later we finished redesigning our home in the beach village of Corona del Mar.

On May 18th, 2010, we were blessed with a sweet little miracle of our own, our baby boy Taj Leon. He stole our hearts and took our breath away! Then, 19 months later, his incredible little brother, Jax Franz, arrived on Christmas morning (December 25th) 2011. What an amazing gift we received! In an effort to slow down the clock and enjoy our beautiful family, in Spring of 2012, we sold our CA seaside home and moved across the country to our dream lake house in Brad's hometown of Bemus Point, a resort village on Chautauqua Lake in Western New York! Even though we are living a more slow paced life, we are living a life far from ordinary!

From the West Coast to the East Coast, our Grover family adventures continue! So won't you come along and join us on this journey of love, family, and travel we like to call our La Vida Grover!

Jax turns 2 months old!

Jax is 2 months old!!! Oh wait, take 2...... Yipee, Jax turned the big 2 months old!:
Weighing in at 12 lbs 2 ounces, Jax is all smiles these days!
He also loves to interact with us, and coo back and forth. He giggles, smiles, and sticks out his tongue, and also admires himself in the mirrors on his toys ( i bet he thinks thats another baby smiling back at him!). Jax is a pro at tummy time (video of his incredible front to back rolling in the next post!). He also LOVES bath time:
And is a superb sleeper. Jax generally falls asleep between 8-9pm after his last feeding, and sleeps all the way through to either 2 or 3am (first chunk of sleep is a solid 5-6 hours, then the next chunk of sleep is 3-4 hours.) He still loves to be swaddled at night, although he turns into Houdini by morning, sucking on his hands.
By day, he lounges in his bouncer chair and swing, and loves to play on his playmat where he swats at the hanging toys and holds the rings we give him. Jax's crib is right across from Taj's in the nursery (boys' bachelor pad pics coming soon) but he doesn't sleep in there quite yet, instead he loves to hang out there by day and dance to the animal mobile!

His new favorite hang out spot is on the boppy, where he is just enough upright to be able to see around him! Jax is not a fan of the pacifier, but still going strong with the breastfeeding, and a big eater he is! here are some close ups of the boy who just keeps getting more handsome with each day.....

And let's not forget how much Jax loves to watch and be entertained by his big brother..... minus the tugging and squishing:

Jax's 2nd month consisted of many adventures and "firsts." We know he went on our duffy boat for the first time, then we took him to the farm:

Jax enjoyed many playdates with friends at the park..... and lunch dates in Laguna Beach, Balboa, and around Newport Beach.

He went to the library, trampoline place (Sky High), and rode a little train (at Irvine Park Railroad) for the first time!
Jax also went to the grocery store with mama and Taj for the first time, and hung out solo with the babysitter for the first time. He even experienced his first Superbowl and Valentine's Day!

On his actual 2 month birthday (this past weekend), Jax went to his first bonfire on the beach (make that Taj's first bonfire as well!) We walked down to CDM main beach to celebrate a friend's birthday, and the boys loved looking at the fire, roasting marshmallows, and listening to acoustic music..... yes folks, we had a bonfire on the beach in the middle of winter (a California winter.)
