our story

It all began on the evening of Nov 29th 2003, at former Chat Noir French Restaurant in Costa Mesa, CA. Brad approached me [Jana] and we instantly connected; it was love at first sight. The next 4 years that followed were a whirlwind of romance, growing pains, and adventures. We circled the globe, traveling to South America, Europe, and Asia. Then one night, Brad surprised me with a romantic beachside proposal. We made it official on August 23rd 2008 with an intimate wedding at a hip art gallery in Laguna Beach. A year later we finished redesigning our home in the beach village of Corona del Mar.

On May 18th, 2010, we were blessed with a sweet little miracle of our own, our baby boy Taj Leon. He stole our hearts and took our breath away! Then, 19 months later, his incredible little brother, Jax Franz, arrived on Christmas morning (December 25th) 2011. What an amazing gift we received! In an effort to slow down the clock and enjoy our beautiful family, in Spring of 2012, we sold our CA seaside home and moved across the country to our dream lake house in Brad's hometown of Bemus Point, a resort village on Chautauqua Lake in Western New York! Even though we are living a more slow paced life, we are living a life far from ordinary!

From the West Coast to the East Coast, our Grover family adventures continue! So won't you come along and join us on this journey of love, family, and travel we like to call our La Vida Grover!

Jax turns 7 months old!

Happy Lucky Number 7 months to our baby boy Jax!  Last month he weighed 15.15 lbs, and this month he weighs 16 lbs, 7oz (12%)  and 28.25 inches long (82%). Tall and skinny.  Sounds familiar? his head circumference is also in 82nd percentile!  I bet he's burning off calories like crazy these days because....... our Super Jax is CRAWLING!!!!  One day shy of his 7 month birthday, this determined little boy put one hand in front of one knee and went for it!  Of course he was quickly trying to snatch a toy from his older brother!  I guess its true what they say, that second borns tend to meet their crawling/ walking milestones earlier.... a whole month earlier!  Check out our speedy gonzales:

It seems like one minute he's crawling, and getting faster and faster each day, and another minute the little one is pulling himself up and standing!  He can stand holding on with just one hand, and he's constantly pulling himself up on furniture, people, even on Taj.

Jax is a very good eater!  He will eat any and everything that is put in front of him, and often tries to steal Taj's food and eyes ours.   He really enjoys feeding himself with his hands or holding a spoon and bringing it to his mouth.  He eats 3 meals a day, and nurses in between.  Still nursing!  Let's see if we can make it to 12 months! (he still refuses the bottle by the way, so if breast milk is what the little man wants then that's what he gets. )  At 7 months old he eats every vegetable and fruit imaginable (carrots, squash, zucchini, sweet potato, potato, spinach, green beans (his least favorite), peas, broccoli, cucumber..... and for fruit he eats blueberries, apples, oranges, peaches, pear, banana, mango, etc.  He has even started to eat chicken, and the spice cinnamon (Mama is enjoying making homemade baby food, and getting creative with combinations.)

Here is an example of just how messy meal times get:
