our story

It all began on the evening of Nov 29th 2003, at former Chat Noir French Restaurant in Costa Mesa, CA. Brad approached me [Jana] and we instantly connected; it was love at first sight. The next 4 years that followed were a whirlwind of romance, growing pains, and adventures. We circled the globe, traveling to South America, Europe, and Asia. Then one night, Brad surprised me with a romantic beachside proposal. We made it official on August 23rd 2008 with an intimate wedding at a hip art gallery in Laguna Beach. A year later we finished redesigning our home in the beach village of Corona del Mar.

On May 18th, 2010, we were blessed with a sweet little miracle of our own, our baby boy Taj Leon. He stole our hearts and took our breath away! Then, 19 months later, his incredible little brother, Jax Franz, arrived on Christmas morning (December 25th) 2011. What an amazing gift we received! In an effort to slow down the clock and enjoy our beautiful family, in Spring of 2012, we sold our CA seaside home and moved across the country to our dream lake house in Brad's hometown of Bemus Point, a resort village on Chautauqua Lake in Western New York! Even though we are living a more slow paced life, we are living a life far from ordinary!

From the West Coast to the East Coast, our Grover family adventures continue! So won't you come along and join us on this journey of love, family, and travel we like to call our La Vida Grover!

Our Boathouse

Okay, so you've seen the cottage, the new house, the backyard..... but you haven't seen the boathouse and our dock yet!  The boathouse (nicknamed "smokehouse" by the guys for obvious reasons ;) is Brad's little man cave, where he and guys play poker, cards, just hang, and.... yup, smoke.  At least its aways from the house, where the kiddos can't see them, and we the women can't smell 'em!   The boathouse is the original little cottage on the property from many years ago.  Did you know that the land our house sits on plus 2 other acres around was originally an Inn with numerous little cottages dispersed on the hill?!  The big Maples trees than run along the side of our house are actually perfectly spread out so that in between them there was once used to be a carriage route (where horse and carriages would ride up the hill to the Inn, that used to be where our neighbor's house now sits.)  Its so fascinating to hear the history, and I'm on a mission to dig up those photos from the Historical Society.

The quaint little boathouse on the lakefront with our house directly behind it on the hill:

Inside..... can you see the card table?

The kitchenette..... (it also has a little bathroom with a shower!) Very convenient for guests, parties, or just a place to hang out when we get off the boat).:

Taji ready to ride with Daddy, he loves going on the boat:

There they go!

What I love most about the boathouse, is that it is an extension of our home, right on the lake.  Its another place to go hang out, eat, play by the water, entertain friends, house guests, and its a wonderful place for dates and quiet time.  Brad has taken Taj fishing out on the dock too.  Its also a great spot for those bonfires and picnics as the kids get older.
