our story

It all began on the evening of Nov 29th 2003, at former Chat Noir French Restaurant in Costa Mesa, CA. Brad approached me [Jana] and we instantly connected; it was love at first sight. The next 4 years that followed were a whirlwind of romance, growing pains, and adventures. We circled the globe, traveling to South America, Europe, and Asia. Then one night, Brad surprised me with a romantic beachside proposal. We made it official on August 23rd 2008 with an intimate wedding at a hip art gallery in Laguna Beach. A year later we finished redesigning our home in the beach village of Corona del Mar.

On May 18th, 2010, we were blessed with a sweet little miracle of our own, our baby boy Taj Leon. He stole our hearts and took our breath away! Then, 19 months later, his incredible little brother, Jax Franz, arrived on Christmas morning (December 25th) 2011. What an amazing gift we received! In an effort to slow down the clock and enjoy our beautiful family, in Spring of 2012, we sold our CA seaside home and moved across the country to our dream lake house in Brad's hometown of Bemus Point, a resort village on Chautauqua Lake in Western New York! Even though we are living a more slow paced life, we are living a life far from ordinary!

From the West Coast to the East Coast, our Grover family adventures continue! So won't you come along and join us on this journey of love, family, and travel we like to call our La Vida Grover!

Jax turns 8 months old!

Happy 8 months to our littlest boy!

Eight Fun Facts About our Eight Month Old:

1) He is cruising from furniture to furniture, stands holding on with one hand, and just started to stand unassisted for a meer 3 seconds!!

2)  He is fitting into 9-12 month clothes, and is notorious for taking off hats and sunglasses...... no tricking this boy!

3) Favorite activity these days:  jumping.  Anywhere, anyhow, anytime.... just give him the time and place and he will jump to his heart's desire:

4)  Jax, or Mr. Piggy, LOVES to eat.  EVERYTHING!  Its hard to keep up with him, but I make sure I have the freezer stocked with all of his favorite blended veggie and fruit combos to quickly heat up and serve with his oatmeal and formula.
He is very good at feeding himself.  Finger foods are the feeding of preference.  His favorites include his puffs, whole wheat popped crackers, banana slices, orange chunks, peach chunks, blueberry pancakes, and egg yolk (cooked).  He likes veggie omelets as well!  I have a feeling he is going to be just as good of an eater as Taj!  Jax eats 3 big meals/ day, and still exclusively nurses in between.  For breakfast he typically has either an egg, puffs, and fruit , or oatmeal with fruit.  For lunch he has baby yogurt with puffs or crackers, and then for dinner he eats one of his blended veggie-protein meals I make ahead of time (or I just blend up whatever we are having that I have cooked.)  I can't think of a vegetable, fruit, or meat he won't eat... he eats it all!

5) He says "da"  for DUCK!  He also says dada, mama, a-da (stands for "all done" I think?), ba, aba, goo,  amongst other funny sounds.

6)  Every morning when he wakes up he quietly and sweetly plays with the stuffed animals in his crib..... while he is working on his morning poop!  When he is ready to come out he starts whining and this is how we will find him, standing against the railing..... waiting....

BTW, he sleeps through the night!!!! Hallelujah!!!!  The boys eat dinner, take a bath, and we do the bedtime routine with them every night, together.  Jax will go to bed around 8pm, and most nights wake between 11 and 12 for a feeding, then sleep all the way to 7:30am.  He must be so happy to sleep in his crib and have his own room!!

7)  He adores his big brother and copies everything he does (and vice versa).  The boys have frequent crawl chases and races.  Jax loves playing with all of Taj's Matchbox cars (which were Brad's when he was little), and Taj loves to run up to him frantically and rip them out of his hands, HA!  Jax loves playing with whatever Taj is playing with, including legos, playdoh, cars, cups, books.  He also likes to eat paper and every chance he gets he nibbles on books and stickers!

and the final,
8)  Make way for Stinker #2!  Oh yes, he is learning the ropes from his big bro!  Jax now knows how to stand in his high chair, straddles the high chair when we go out to eat,  is so strong he will grab the spoon or bowl from your hands during mealtime! He likes to go for the cords and monitor just to get your attention and then he laughs mischievously!  Speaking of giggles, he's got different giggles for different things!  He giggles when he bites me during breastfeeding too!
