our story

It all began on the evening of Nov 29th 2003, at former Chat Noir French Restaurant in Costa Mesa, CA. Brad approached me [Jana] and we instantly connected; it was love at first sight. The next 4 years that followed were a whirlwind of romance, growing pains, and adventures. We circled the globe, traveling to South America, Europe, and Asia. Then one night, Brad surprised me with a romantic beachside proposal. We made it official on August 23rd 2008 with an intimate wedding at a hip art gallery in Laguna Beach. A year later we finished redesigning our home in the beach village of Corona del Mar.

On May 18th, 2010, we were blessed with a sweet little miracle of our own, our baby boy Taj Leon. He stole our hearts and took our breath away! Then, 19 months later, his incredible little brother, Jax Franz, arrived on Christmas morning (December 25th) 2011. What an amazing gift we received! In an effort to slow down the clock and enjoy our beautiful family, in Spring of 2012, we sold our CA seaside home and moved across the country to our dream lake house in Brad's hometown of Bemus Point, a resort village on Chautauqua Lake in Western New York! Even though we are living a more slow paced life, we are living a life far from ordinary!

From the West Coast to the East Coast, our Grover family adventures continue! So won't you come along and join us on this journey of love, family, and travel we like to call our La Vida Grover!

An Omni Bedford Springs, PA Easter & Lincoln Caverns

Easter 2015 was on the first Sunday of April this year, a bit early and at the end of winter, so we anticipated that weather would be unpredictable and possibly even snowy.  We were right, it snowed on Easter in WNY!!! Not surprised!  But we weren't in Bemus to witness it!  So glad I followed my gut instinct and researched a nice Easter weekend staycation location south of NY state, about a 4 hour drive southeast- Bedford Springs, PA.  It was also 20 degrees warmer, yay!

Our boys LOVE Easter.  This may be their absolute favorite holiday besides their own birthdays.  Don't ask me why.  There is something about that white fluffy bunny, and of course they enjoy egg hunts to the maximum.  Ever since the Bemus icy egg hunt, they practiced and trained with their own egg hunts at home. It was THE favorite hobby in the house for weeks, it even continued past Easter.  I finally had to pack up all the plastic eggs and break the news to them that Easter was over until next year.  They demanded to count down to Easter Sunday, and every day we got closer to the holiday their eyes sparkled with excitement.  This being the case, I decided to make Easter that much more special by planning a festive weekend away, to a resort that catered left and right to children and the Easter bunny…. without losing the luxury and comforts mommy and daddy enjoy.

Introducing….. The Omni Bedford Springs Resort, in Bedford Springs PA…… A golf and spa destination!

Many US Presidents (5 in total) have vacationed here

The beautiful heated indoor pool

we enjoyed a family swim every night after dinner, right before bed

We stayed 2 nights, arriving the Saturday before Easter, explored the grounds, ate a yummy dinner, swam in the pool, showered, and stayed up playing for a bit before bedtime.  Then the next morning, was Easter, and the boys were trembling with excitement over the anticipated day's activities.

We put on our Easter finest, picked up coffee and baked goodies on the way to the FIRST egg hunt, running into Easter bunny himself on the way.

then there was easter egg hunt number TWO two hours later:

Jax found the golden egg!

Came back to our room to find their easter baskets with a few more treats and little toys

Mama and her two goofballs!

even the boys' lovies got easter eggs!
The puppies were very happy to be included…. thanks to Taji :-)
Art room…. decorated easter egg bags while waiting to have our 2pm Easter brunch!

More Easter bunny love!  He was hopping around the hotel grounds all day long!  Every time we saw him, he ran up and gave the boys a hug!  We even saw him dancing at the Easter brunch.
The Easter brunch was excellent!  They had live music and a singer singing Easter tunes…. oh, and the dessert table was out of this world!  We filled out tummies until the buttons on our pants burst, LOL, then we needed to take a little leisure walk afterwards.
Our nature hike was refreshing, lots of sunshine and good exercise for us after such a big meal.

there were many natural springs along the way… hence, where Bedford Springs gets its name!

We came back in time for the nightly bonfire, picked up a light dinner to-go and roasted marshmallows.  This was the boys' first smores of 2015… besides our indoor one over our fireplace at home in the Winter.
After smores, we of course went for our nightly pre-bedtime swim!  The boys LOVED everything about our Easter hotel staycation.  They loved the whole experience and all the pool, roasting smores, easter egg hunts, hiking, and lobby dancing.  We were told several times by other hotel guests what happy boys we have.  They would do their happy dance on the way to every activity and meal!

I could see how fun this kind of staycation is for families.  Its a more stay-put and relax time… no driving necessary.  Just a lot of bonding, eating, and swimming.  Its worth a repeat…. we would definitely come back here too.  The boys loved it so much they wanted to come back the following weekend, and it broke their little hearts and made them teary eyed when I had to tell them that Easter was over and we could not go back the next weekend!

On our drive back home, we had a big breakfast at a nearby diner, and decided to make a stop, enjoy and prolong the 70 degree weather.  We visited Lincoln Caverns, explored amazing caves 130 feet underground! It was impressive!
